Project Alton House | Part Five

The Basement + Mud Room

Welcome to the final instalment of our Project Alton House (that is, until the gardens are in full bloom and the landscaping is done, so we can share the exterior!). Our clients are avid wine collectors, so we created a chilled, temperature controlled wine room with a speak-easy inspired sitting room to enjoy a sip (or two!). The winery experience has a dark academia vibe - with books, whiskeys and cigar boxes lining the shelves.

As mentioned in Part 2, our clients opted for a smaller powder room in order to maximize storage in the mudroom. Just off the garage, custom built-in cabinetry houses coats and cleaning supplies. A dog shower means no family member is forgotten in the personal design of this home. Our clients opted to create a small laundry closet to keep the mudroom as large as possible, which we lined with beautiful patterned wallpaper so even small spaces feel elevated and special.

Separate hot and cold water taps in the wine room downstairs are a simple, handsome addition to the bar.
